Exhibition by Lisbeth Narud (NO), Joakim Weylandt, (DK) Arne Högsander (SE) og Iida Vattaja (FIN)

Exhibition: September 1th to December 30th 2007.

The exhibition is sponsored by Nordisk Kulturfond and has come to life in cooperation with Festival of Wonder.

The first of September opens KunstCentret Silkeborg Bad this unique exhibit, in which 4 Nordic artists interpret the theme: Myth, Marionette and Man.

These four artists master a variety of modes of expression. Their experience is wide, from production of puppets for traditional puppet theatre to production of animation models and experimental objects.

Puppet and animation universe

Our audience can look forward to a rich artistic experience in the world of puppets and animation, with a lot of humour and dramatic staging. The myth concept is illustrated with historical references as well as less traditional ways of expression, for example Arne Höglander’s interpretation of St. George and the dragon.

In this exhibit, it will be possible to study the works created especially for this exhibit space, illustrated by materials showing the production process.

Strings

For example the production work from Anders Rønnow Klarlund’s and Bald Film’s ‘Strings’ will be on exhibit. This film was one of the largest Nordic marionette films in recent memory, and it has won the ‘Silver-Méliés’ for best fantasy at the Finish film festival, Espoo Ciné.

Weylandt, marionette maker for the film, will present his sketches, photos and several of the marionette characters from the film ‘Strings’.

In this way the audience will have a unique opportunity to gain insight into the process, in which the artist juggles with illusion and animation in a way that we are thrilled by the film’s own reality.
