Cinerama (La Cie des Chiffonniéres et le Quarantiéme Rugissant), France

The Devil’s Dans

Danish Premiere
Djævelens dans

The performance is inspired from 3 novels by Melville, Dostojevski and Tjechov.

”Should you happen to see the sign of Cinerama, the travelling theatre of prankish puppets, melodious musicians, tricesters, and fortune tellers – run for your life”

Rumour has it that within these walls of wood and canvas a peculiar wind blows that may seriously damage your reason and convictions. This encounter between the fairground universe of Cinerama and the puppets of Les Chiffonnieres invites you on a voyage into the heart of human folly, be it gentle, comic, or ravenous.

We experience 3 men whose destinies are in the devil´s hand. A captain blinded by vengeance leads his crew to a certain death. A civil servant swallowed alive by a crocodile yields to the call of a fleeting celebrity. A fanatic priest who swore to give himself body and soul into the arms of the holy inquisition sows seeds of dissention in the spirit of a man in love.

Embark on a whirlwind tour with our 4 musicians and 5 puppeteers as The Devil´s Dance unfolds like a Pandora’s box.
